The Golok was designed in conjunction with the British Army as a basic but effective cutting tool in the jungle or wooded areas. The Golok is effective for cleaning undergrowth and performs well at chopping fair sized branches. The blade of the Golok is 13" in length, a handle of 5" and weighs 18 oz. . The medium to high carbon steel blade is medium soft but will hold an edge but also sharpen quickly and won't chip. The blade thickness is .175 at the grip, tapering to .105 at the tip. The blade has Rockwell hardness of 44-50. The knife comes a with riveted beech wooden handle with a turned-back grip. They come pre-sharpened and ready use but can be easily sharpened further.
